Hardcastle Auto Body - San Jose - 1970 Chevelle Restoration Project

Starting Point

When purchased on September 13, 2008, the Chevelle showed no signs of a prior restoration, though it looked as if it was not fully neglected either. At first glance the car looked like something you might find in a junk yard. The exterior body panels appeared to have excess body filler, the interior was severely worn and tattered, and the suspension was most likely untouched since 1970. This old Chevy was worn out and in need of a rebirth.

When purchasing an older vehicle for restoration, it is difficult to gauge the actual condition of the vehicle. However, there are certain problem areas to evaluate that will give an indication of the overall extent of wear: amount of rust on the floor, trunk, front and rear wheel wells, windshield channels, and proper alignment of frame rails. These classics are rebuilt no matter what condition they are in, though time and money can be spared if a decent subject is acquired. After a thorough investigation, this particular Chevelle was determined to be worth purchasing.

Bottom line, this Chevy requires attention over every square inch of its existence. Nothing will be ignored or overlooked on this classic Chevrolet.
